Throughout the Adequan Global Dressage Festival Piaffe Performance has been recognizing top adult amateur dressage riders for their excellence in the sport. Founder of Piaffe Performance, Dr. Cesar Parra, chose to sponsor this award because he believes that adult amateurs are the backbone of the sport. As a Pan American Games gold medalist, he believes that riders who demonstrate excellent horsemanship and sportsmanship deserve acknowledgment.
The most recent recipient of this award is Charlene Moskowitz, who impressed Piaffe Performance last week competing successfully in Third Level classes after taking up dressage only a year ago. Parra was honored to reward Moskowitz for all her hard work, presenting her with the Piaffe Performance Adult Amateur Achievement Award official tri-colored ribbon, medal, and an engraved silver picture frame to hold a lasting memory of her award-winning ride.
Moskowitz began riding horses in the jumping ring as a child, even performing briefly with the Arabian Nights dinner theatre. She left the saddle to start her family, who has since grown into a bustling family of five children.
“I then started riding dressage because I wanted something a bit more challenging than the jumper ring, and a little safer at the same time. It is so much more challenging than the jumpers, you all make it look so easy,” she laughed as she explained.
Moskowitz now rides down centerline with her KWPN (Krack C) 16.1 hand bay gelding, Cannan, whom she bought through her trainer Denielle Gallagher-Legriffon only six months ago. The pair have been training together vigorously ever since.
“When I sat on him for the first time I almost cried, because he reminded me of a horse I had when I was younger who I had a great connection with,” Moskowitz reminisced.
Moskowitz will continue competing with Cannan in Third Level and hopes to move to Fourth Level by the end of the 2016 show season.
In addition to the Adult Amateur Achievement Award, Dr. Cesar Parra and Piaffe Performance are also sponsoring the International Arena Rider Lounge and the Hospitality Tent by the National Arenas where they provide drinks and snacks for all riders to enjoy.
